Sometimes you stumble upon situations so horrifically bad that you can't help but laugh. It's like here your brain tries to understand the sheer level of chaos and just gives up, opting for laughter as a coping strategy.
But then, you suddenly become aware that it's not really hilarious. It's just plain horrifyingly awful. And the laughter you experienced morphs into a wistful, melancholic sound.
In the end, you are left with a sense of confusion. You question about the nature of it all. Was this some kind of twisted art experiment?
Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?

Worst Day Ever
It all started with a terrible case of terrible hair. I couldn't do it to look right. As I was dashing out the door, I trippedover and gracefully all over myself. To make matters worse, I was completely late for school.

A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
